SAGE Certificate Program- old

The Stanford SAGE Certificate Program is available in English and Spanish. We have extensive experience training the direct care workforce in all the Bay Area Counties. Supported by the Stanford Aging and Ethnogeriatrics Center and the Stanford Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, Dr. Periyakoil and her team have trained 241 community health workers from the Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma counties.

Additionally, we have conducted conferences, hosted webinars as well as in-person training for multi-disciplinary health professionals in close collaboration with our community partners. In 2022, we partnered with 26 community organizational partners to host 4 educational sessions in Spanish (attended by 222 trainees), one conference on aging and dementia (attended by 136 people), 12 outreach events attended by 183 health workers, 70% Latinx Americans.

SAGE Certificate Training Trainee Testimonials

SAGE Training helped me get a job!

“Currently in the process of being offered a position in which I will be caring for an elderly person with Alzheimer’s. I also had the opportunity to take a nursing assistant course and volunteering in clinics or nursing homes with patients who have Alzheimer’s. “

I liked everything about the SAGE training!

“I liked everything, and that the training is done in Spanish. I believe that this information is really helpful and necessary in our community. The Latino community needs more training like this.”

I learned a lot about dementia!

“For me, it was such an honor being able to participate in this training and I learned a lot, thanks to you. I learned a lot about the brain and the illness related to it. I want to thank you for the lessons you provided because now I can educate and explain to my family about Alzheimer’s.”

SAGE Training helped me to provide better care to my patients!

“This training is something very interesting, we can help people with dementia more, training ourselves more and thus giving them better help.”

¡He aprendido a tratar a los pacientes profesionalmente!
