Given the necessity of describing a culture in a prescribed number of pages, we are writing in generalities about a very diverse, complex, and heterogeneous culture.
Nurses must be cautious not to apply this general information to all patients and families, or the generalities become stereotypes, which are not true.
Rather, nurses must be familiar with the cultural generalities and then ask patients and their family members about their cultural beliefs and decision-making.
